Eight Canadian Songs To Add To Your Halloween Mix

Halloween music, eh?

Looking for some new music to update your Halloween playlist? Well, look no further than these eight Halloween appropriate songs by Canadian artists. From iconic bands like The Tragically Hip to small bands like The Creepshow, here's the creepiest and kookiest that Canada's music scene has to offer.

1. Walking With A Ghost - Tegan And Sara

This laid back track from Calgarians and twin sisters Tegan and Sara may not literally be about ghosts, but it's still a must-add to any spooky playlist.

2. Clap For The Wolfman - The Guess Who

This song by The Guess Who, about DJ "Wolfman Jack", was on the Halloween CD I listened to every year as a child, so to me it will always be a quintessential Halloween song up there with the likes of Ghostbusters and Thriller.

3. I'm A Werewolf, Baby - The Tragically Hip

No list of Canadian music would be complete without a song from The Tragically Hip. This track, from their 1987 self titled EP, may not be one of their bigger hits, but it's definitely of their spookier ones.

4. Monster Hospital - Metric

This song by Metric gets a special mention for having a super-creepy music video, complete with a band of zombies and a ton of blood.

5. Blood Blood Blood - The Creepshow

Burlington, Ontario horror punk band The Creepshow could probably have several entries on this list, but I'll limit it to just this one.

6. Zombie Nation - The Brains

If some of these tracks have been a little too low energy for you, you might be better off listening to the title track from The Brains' album Zombie Nation, complete with thematic album art. Be warned, there are some explicit lyrics.

7. Your Ghost - Marianas Trench

This fun, poppy song by Vancouver band Marianas Trench comes from the appropriately titled album Phantoms.

8. Raise A Little Hell - Trooper

If Marianas Trench isn't your cup of tea, you might want to try another Vancouver band: Trooper, and their hit Raise A Little Hell. While it might not be the most on-theme song for a Halloween playlist, it makes up for it by being a catchy, feel good song with a chorus you'll immediately want to sing along to.
