5 Spooky Podcast Episodes You Should Listen To Now

They'll cast a spell on you

I love listening to podcasts. I listen to them when I'm doing chores, going for walks, and often to fall asleep at night. I like listening to podcasts that teach me things, like Malcolm Gladwell's Revisionist History, or podcasts about the things I'm passionate about, like Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey's Office Ladies. Among the podcasts I have listened to and enjoyed are a series of spooky, scary episodes – these are some of the best ones.

The Film Reroll - Halloween Parts One And Two

The concept of this podcast is to take the premise of movies and play them as Dungeons & Dragons one shots. They've covered several horror movies before, including Jaws, Friday The Thirteenth: The Final Chapter, and A Quiet Place, as well as many non-horror movies, but their play through of Halloween is one of my favourite episodes. While this is technically two podcast episodes (and there's also a sequel with two more episodes), I'm going to count it as one, since it's essentially just been split up for time.

Song Exploder - The Halloween Theme

Speaking of the movie Halloween, this episode of Song Exploder breaks down how the theme song was written, and the different variations of the theme that later came to exist. If you like Song Exploder, they also have an episode breaking down the creation of the Stranger Things theme, as well as a lot of episodes about non-Halloween-related songs.

Stuff You Should Know - How Haunted House Attractions Work

This episode of Stuff You Should Know delves into the history of haunted houses, examining pre-cursors to the modern day haunted house, and how it developed into the phenomenon we know today.

Hey, Do You Remember...? - The Blair Witch Project

There are various episodes of Hey, Do You Remember...? that centre around spooky movies – Addams Family Values, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Ghostbusters II. However, I like the episode where the hosts look back at their memories of The Blair Witch Project, since the movie's viral marketing strategy meant that watching it when it first came out was a very different experience to watching it today.

Bloody Date Night - Scream

Every episode of Bloody Date Night features a different horror movie, so technically the whole show could go on this list. I chose this episode in particular because it was the first episode of this podcast I listened to, and because Scream is one of my favourite horror movies.
